Some nice smokes and an acquisition

Yesterday I enjoyed a nice bowl of Peter Stokkebye Luxury Bullseye Flake in my GBD Prehistoric. The pipe is a quick favorite of mine after only two bowls. The draw is outstanding and the shape is perfect in the hand or a clench. I can see reaching for it often.

Next, I pulled out an old drugstore staple. A Medico V.F.Q. Billiard stuffed with C&D Redburn. It was my first smoke of this pipe following resoration and it did not disappoint. Another nice drawing pipe with a wide open stem. The Medico pipe was built to accommodate a filter and since I don't have an adapter and don't use filters we're talking WIDE open. It didn't bother me any, the smoke was great. Redburn is a nice full bodied smoke with Burley and Dark Fired Kentucky. The vitamin N is certainly present in this one! An excellent smoke.
In the evening I enjoyed some Rattray's Exotic Passion in a fresh MM Legend. It's hard to go wrong with a cob, especially with a blend that can be a little bit haunting if you know what I mean. I've decided to dedicate this particular cob to aromatic ghostly blends. Cobs smoke great and are inexpensive so no compromise is necessary.
Today I received my first Falcon pipe. I was very excited to give it a go. At first glance the system seemed a little flimsy and the bowl was a bit difficult to thread onto the stem. Despite my initial misgivings with the Falcon system, my fears were put to rest by an excellent smoke. The pipe is light and feels nice in a clench. The system smokes cool as well as dry. Clean up was a breeze also, just a wipe clean of the bowl and the reservoir and all done. Pipe is a Falcon Hunter stem with a dark briar bowl filled with RO Firestorm.
Most recently, I finished off a bowl of Nightcap in a Savinelli 606 Rusticated Tortuga. There is something about an English blend on a cool fall day. I love the warm flavors and the spicy Perique in Nightcap really speaks to me. Truly a masterpiece of a blend that I don’t smoke often enough.
I also made another investment in my cellar today. 5 tins of Mac Baren Acadian Perique and 5 tins of RO Firestorm. These VaPers are sure to cellar well and their spicy Perique is paired with bold Dark Fired Kentucky. All around strong and flavorful tobaccos. All things that are right up my alley. I can't wait to be cracking these tins in 5 years time! The last one might get cracked in 20 years! Have some good smokes!
